The Intel Microprocessors, 8th Edition Book
In the 8086 and 8088 microprocessors, the effective address calculation required additional clocks that are added to the times in the instruction set summary. These additional times are listed in Table B–8. No such times are added to the 80286–Core2.
Note that the instruction set summary does not include clock times for the Pentium Pro through the Core2. Intel has not released these times and has decided that the RDTSC instruction can be used to have the microprocessor count the number of clocks required for a given application. Even though the timings do not appear for these new microprocessors, they are very similar to the Pentium, which can be used as a guide.
